M.P.Ed.

Overview

This program offers specialized training in Physical Education and Sports. Students interested in gaining knowledge of various allied areas & courses, instructional methodology and procedures in physical education & sports can enroll for this course.

This is a two years’ course, running into four semesters and intends to develop the effectiveness and quality of physical education teaching and sports training. The course also focuses on preparing sports administrators and sports directors to work in colleges and universities.

Eligibility

  • The candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent with at least 50% of Marks ( 49.50% and above to be considered as 50%) (Minimum 45% marks in case of Backward Class category) ( 44.50% and above to be considered as 45 %). OR
  • The candidate should have passed Bachelor’s Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education with at least 50% marks ( 49.50% and above to be considered as 50%) (Minimum 45% marks in case of Backward Class category) ( 44.50% and above to be considered as 45%).

Admission Procedure

Admissions shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination (written test, fitness test, interview and percentage in the qualifying examination) or any other selection process as per the policy of the State Government/ Affiliating University.

Course Structure

The first year offers theory course on research methodology, Statistics, training science, sports psychology, measurement & evaluation, exercise physiology, professional preparation, and practical in measurement & evaluation, and fitness & conditioning.

In the second year students can opt for theory components from athletic care and rehabilitation, Biomechanics & Kinesiology, Sports management, Philosophical & Sociological foundations, Pedagogy in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Yoga Science, Exercise Prescription & fitness management, Health Education.

The practical component in the second year comprise Coaching lesson in sports and games of their specialization choice, in which, student learns in detail about coaching, training, conditioning and officiating related aspects of the game or sport of own choice.

It is mandatory for every student to design and conduct a research program in the area zeroed in by the student along with the guide/advisor. This component develops the logic, reasoning, analytical ability in our students.
