CACPE is empowered by its well-qualified and vastly experienced teaching faculty and support staff. This empowerment enables CACPE to impart education and support to students in just the right manner & quantum. The qualifications and experience of the faculty in the field of physical education are but a testimony to their expertise. While many of the teachers / lecturers have completed advanced studies in the field by acquiring post graduate degrees and doctorates, the junior faculty members are also well-qualified to support the seniors.
An able, competent and professional leadership to the faculty is given by the Principal, himself a Ph.D in the field and having more than 20 years of experience in teaching.
CACPE back-office staff, library staff and other administrative support staff are all of one mind and work towards the betterment of the College through their dedication, effort and service.

Dr. Sopan Eknath Kangane

Introduction:- I serve as the Principal and an Associate Professor at Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE). I first joined the institution on an ad-hoc basis on November 25, 1996, and was appointed to a regular position on July 1, 1997. A highly distinguished academic, my qualifications include a B.A., M.A., B.Ed.(PE), M.Ed.(PE), M.Phil., Ph.D., and SET, along with an NSNIS Certificate Course in Basketball. I have demonstrated extensive leadership in higher education, notably serving as the former Dean for the Faculty of Physical Education at Savitribai Phule Pune University, and currently contributing to several vital university and national-level committees. As a premier research guide, I have successfully guided 19 Ph.D. scholars and 15 M.Phil. students to completion, while publishing over 20 authoritative books and numerous articles in reputed research journals. I actively teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specializing in the Science of Sports Training, Fitness & Wellness, and Methods of Teaching History, alongside practical teaching in Handball, Hockey, and Table Tennis.

Dr. Balaji Satwaji Pote

Introduction:- I completed my post-graduation from Nanded and I joined CACPE in 1999 as a lecturer. Presently I am an Associate Professor and also a recognized Ph.D guide currently contributing to several committees. As a premier research guide, I have successfully guided 5 Ph.D. scholars and 2 M.Phil. students to completion, I have successfully completed two minor research projects. The courses I teach are Management and Organization of Physical Education and Sports, Health Education and Nutrition and Method of Teaching Marathi at UG and PG levels. I am in charge of the internal assessment work at the UG level. On the field I teach Athletics, Kabaddi and indigenous activities like Mallakhamb and Lezim. I have a Certificate in Athletics Coaching. I have authored a book on Indian Games and Sports and Health Education and Nutrition Few of my research articles are published in journals at national and international level. I take special interest in athletics officiating and track marking.

Dr. Sharad Shankar Aher

Introduction:-
I hold a Doctoral Degree in Physical Education from Savitribai Phule Pune University and have been serving as a Professor at Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE) since 2003. With over 23 years of experience, I have been teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My academic interests extend beyond theory, as I am deeply passionate about fitness and conditioning, particularly in practical applications. My research contributions include national and international publications, and I have authored eight books. Additionally, I have successfully completed two minor research projects focusing on Obesity & Fitness and Assessment Software. Beyond academics, I am an advocate of an active lifestyle and firmly believe in promoting health, fitness, and well-being among my students and peers.

Dr. Ujwala Lokesh Raje
Qualification :- B.Com., M.Com, B.Ed.(PE), M.Ed.(PE), Ph.D., SET, NSNIS Certificate course in Basketball
Introduction:- I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Physical Education from CACPE. Before joining CACPE in the year 2000, I have worked as a PE Teacher, Teacher Educator in school and colleges in and around Pune. I teach Yoga, Basketball and Aerobics to the UG students. The theory part that I teach is Sports Psychology, Yoga Education, Fitness & Wellness, Teaching methods in Marathi & PE at UG level. I am responsible for the campus placement and am the Chairman of the Internal Complaints Committee. I take special interest in organizing events and setting up demonstrations for National and important day celebrations. I have participated in state and national conferences and seminars and presented & published papers in journals & proceedings. I also have special interests in Yoga and have undergone certificate courses in Yoga.

Dr. Shraddha Abhijit Naik

Introduction:- I am a Professor and Head of the Postgraduate Department at MM’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE), Pune. Having completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from this institution, I joined the faculty in 2000 and have since remained committed to advancing excellence in Physical Education Teacher Education. My professional journey began as a Physical Education Teacher at Muktangan English School, Pune. This valuable school-level experience continues to shape my approach to preparing future physical education teachers by connecting educational theory with authentic classroom and field practices. My teaching and research interests include Pedagogy of Physical Education, Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE), Physical Literacy, Physical Activity, and Adapted Physical Education. I have a special interest in developing innovative, practice-oriented teaching, embodied learning modules that enable pre-service teachers to become reflective, competent, and confident professionals. I particularly enjoy mentoring student teachers through microteaching, practice teaching, and school internship experiences. My research primarily employs qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. I have published research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and presented my work at several national and international conferences. As a recognized Ph.D. research guide, I mentor scholars in conducting meaningful research that contributes to the growth of physical education and teacher education. I am an active member of the **Association Internationale des Écoles Supérieures d’Éducation Physique (AIESEP)** and the **International Physical Literacy Association (IPLA), UK**, and I serve as a Global Colleague of the Spectrum Institute of Teaching & Learning, USA. These associations enrich my academic perspective and enable me to engage with global developments in physical education and teacher education. Alongside my academic responsibilities, I teach Kabaddi, Fitness and Conditioning, and Aerobics. I believe in fostering innovation, critical inquiry, and reflective practice while nurturing future educators who can make meaningful contributions to schools, communities, and the profession.

Dr. Shrikant Suryakant Mahadik
Qualification :- B.Com., B.Ed. (Physical Education), M.Ed. (Physical Education), Ph.D., SET, NET Certified Diploma in Sports Nutrition, Fab Academy, California, USA.
Introduction:- I completed my Doctorate in Physical Education from the University of Pune, where my research focused on obesity among school-aged girls. I have presented and published research papers in national and international conferences as well as peer-reviewed journals. My areas of academic and research interest include Sports Nutrition, Sports Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Athletic Care and Rehabilitation, Physical Fitness Assessment, Research Methodology, Questionnaire Development and Validation, Athlete Performance Analysis, and Physical Education Pedagogy. I teach Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Athletic Care and Rehabilitation, Sports Nutrition, and Methods of Teaching Mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am actively involved in guiding student research projects and promoting evidence-based practices in physical education and sports sciences. In practical courses, I teach Football, Hockey, and Sprinting Events in Athletics. I have represented at the national level in athletics and football. I am currently associated with Ashoka Football Club, a Second Division football club affiliated with the Pune District Football Association (PDFA), where I continue to contribute as a player and club manager. Apart from teaching and research, I actively follow developments in sports science, sports nutrition, and athlete development. I enjoy playing and watching a variety of sports, particularly football and cricket. I take a keen interest in promoting sports participation, grassroots sports development, and monitoring the achievements of Indian athletes across different sporting disciplines. My professional goal is to contribute to the advancement of physical education and sports sciences through teaching, research, coaching, and the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles among students and athletes.

Dr. Ameet Dattaram Prabhu
Qualification :- B.A., B. Ed. (PE) M.Ed. (PE), Ph.D., SET, NET
Introduction:- I joined CACPE in 2009 after working as a Teacher Educator at BVUCPE, Pune and as Director of Physical Education & Sports at Waghire College, Saswad as I had more interest in teaching. I take particular interest in Sports Psychology (UG & PG). My undergraduate teaching expertise spans Health & Nutrition, Athletic Care & Rehabilitation, and English Methodology. On the practical side, I instruct students in Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Basketball, including advanced Basketball Specialization. As an active researcher, I have authored six books and frequently present peer-reviewed papers at national and international conferences. I am invited to lecture on health sciences, mental wellness, dietary health, adventure sports, and physical fitness. Beyond academia, I maintain a disciplined regimen of endurance training and competitive sports, particularly basketball. I am also an avid trekker, a certified mountaineer, and dedicate my weekends and vacations to exploring nature.

Dr. Yogesh Hiraman Bodke
Qualification :- B.Sc., B.Ed. (PE), M.Ed. (PE), M.Phil.(PE), Ph.D., SET
Introduction:- Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics are areas of teaching and research interest. I teach Evaluation Procedures and Methods of Teaching Information Technology at UG level and Anthropometry practical at PG level. I take special interest in teaching fundamental movements and competence development. At PG I am responsible for a specialization course in Handball. In my doctoral studies, I have worked on Handball skill tests and tried to standardize the Handball skill tests suited to our state. I have participated in national conferences and seminars. I have represented the State of Maharashtra in the game of Handball senior level more than 12 times. I love playing Handball. In my free time, I like to explore technology and its applications in the field of PE and Sports.

Dr. Mahesh Narayan Deshpande
Qualification :- B.Sc., B.Ed.(PE), M.Ed.(PE), Ph.D., SET, NSNIS Certificate Course in Athletics
Introduction:- I am a Professor at MM’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education, Pune, with extensive experience in teaching, research, academic administration, and curriculum development. I hold a Ph.D. in Somatotype, Physical Fitness, and Mental Health and am a recognized Ph.D. Guide of Savitribai Phule Pune University. My research interests include physical fitness assessment, sports science, mental health, and teacher education. I have guided 25 M.Phil. and 12 Ph.D. scholars, published over 30 research papers in reputed journals, and presented papers at national and international conferences. I have authored books on Physical Education and Handball and contributed to educational publications of Balbharati, Maharashtra. I remain committed to advancing quality physical education, research, and sports education in India.

Mr. Sumit Prakash Tambe
Qualification :- B.Com., B.Ed.(PE), M.Ed.(PE), SET, NET, NSNIS Certificate Course in Athletics
Introduction:- I am an ex-student of CACPE and after completing my Master’s degree, I joined the College in the year 2018. Before joining CACPE, I worked as a Director of Physical Education at a College of Computer Science in Wakad. I also have two years of experience in school teaching. Currently, I teach Athletic Events (Throws & Jumps) on the field for UG classes and Fitness & Conditioning for PG classes. The theory components I teach include Theory of Sports & Games Teaching Methodology in History for UG students and Foundation of Sports Coaching and Health & Fitness Management for PG students. Few of my research articles are published in journals at national and international level. Along with my academic responsibilities, I also train athletes at a coaching center at Sanas Ground. I have qualified the Maharashtra State Technical Official Athletics Examination with an ‘A’ Grade. I am passionate about sports coaching, fitness, and athlete development. Apart from sports, I enjoy reading historical books and travelling to explore new destinations.

Mr. Kumar Krishnanand Upadhyay

Introduction:- I am a former student of CACPE, and following the completion of my Master’s degree, I am currently employed at the same institution. I am Dr. Kumar Upadhyay, an Assistant Professor, academician, and elite fitness specialist with 25 years of extensive professional experience in the industry. My association with CACPE commenced as a student, and upon earning my Master’s, I proudly joined the faculty in 2011, driven by a desire to contribute to my alma mater. My expertise is grounded in evidence-based sports science, complemented by a Ph.D. and an MBA in Marketing, along with international certifications as an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer (2007) and a NESTA Biomechanics Specialist. In my current capacity, I integrate advanced theoretical knowledge with practical application across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For our undergraduate courses, I instruct on the Foundation of Physical Education (utilizing the Geography method), Exercise Prescription & Fitness Management, and oversee field-based Fitness & Conditioning. At the postgraduate level, I coordinate PG Ground Practicals and deliver lectures on the Science of Sports Training, Health Education, and Sports Medicine. Beyond my instructional duties, I direct the CACPE Fitness Club, dedicated to assisting individuals in optimizing human movement and achieving peak physical condition. My commitment to physical endurance extends beyond the academic environment; since 2016, I have annually challenged my limits by leading and participating in demanding cycling expeditions that have traversed nearly every region of India. Whether on the field, in the laboratory, or on the open road, my objective is to inspire, educate, and cultivate the forthcoming generation of leaders in physical education.

Mr. Shirish Vijay More

Introduction:- I am a dedicated and student-focused Associate Professor with over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, sports administration, and mentoring in the field of Physical Education. I am committed to promoting lifelong fitness, sportsmanship, physical literacy, and research-based learning among students. My professional goal is to foster excellence in physical education through effective sports management systems, enhanced institutional sports infrastructure, and the development of future educators equipped with leadership, administration, and event management skills. After completing my Master’s degree from Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE), I began my career as a Physical Education Teacher at MIT English Medium School. During this period, I completed M.Phil. from the University of Pune and also served as a Teacher Educator at Bharati Vidyapeeth B.P.Ed. College. Subsequently, I joined MIT School of Management as Director of Sports and Physical Education. In 2009, I joined Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education as an Assistant Professor and currently serve as Associate Professor. I earned Ph.D. in Physical Education from Savitribai Phule Pune University. I have presented research papers at various national conferences and actively contribute to academic and professional development initiatives. I have delivered numerous lectures and awareness programs on career opportunities in Physical Education, Sports, Health, Fitness, and Sports Management. My teaching interests include Sports Management, Philosophical Foundations of Physical Education and Sports, Kho-Kho, Minor Games, and Modified Games. My research work focuses on the fitness profiling of national-level Kho-Kho players in India. As a sportsperson, I have represented both State and University teams in Kho-Kho and continue to contribute to sports development through active involvement in sports organizations.

Mrs. Aditi Buwa

Introduction:-Before joining CACPE I have been active in the field of Library since 2011 and have worked at Pune Union Working Journalist (PUWJ). After joining CACPE in 2018 I have decided to implement a few things into the CACPE Library which includes Developing Information literacy and Dissemination of Information.Driving and Trekking, Running, camping are of great interest to me.

Introduction:- I hold the position of Administrative Clerk and have been with CACPE since 1999. My primary job responsibilities are focused around Finance and Fees. I engage myself in regular fitness activities and am of the view that whatever work you do; it should be done with precision and one should reach at the top level.

Mr. Rajeev Shekhar Tikone
Introduction:- I hold the position of Junior Administrative Clerk and have been with CACPE since Aug. 2014. My primary job responsibilities are focused around Examinations, Attendance & Certificate issues, Student Scholarships, Student Eligibilities, etc. I enjoy engaging myself in Gym Workouts and keep myself strong and fit. I also enjoy going on bike rides and touring with my family.

Mr. Gaurav Arvind Menge
Introduction:- I hold the position of Junior Administrative Clerk and have been with CACPE since 2024. My primary job responsibilities are focused around Examinations, Certificate issues, Student Scholarships, Student Eligibilities, etc. I am a Basketball player and Coach and enjoy teaching kids.

Introduction:- I joined college in 1994 and am given duties like Delivering postage to Govt. offices, University, Banking work & other routine work. I am a farmer and like farming in my free time. I also like upgrading my knowledge through different mediums.

Introduction:- I joined college in 2006 and work in the Equipment store and have given duties to Exchange of sports equipment & other routine work. I like to engage myself in physical fitness activity and exercise and play Cricket, Football and Basketball.
